The Buckley and Bogey
Cat Detective Capers
Mystery Novels for both Kids and Cat Lovers everywhere
Buckley and Bogey are cat detectives who specialize in solving crimes that well, let's face it, might stump the humans around them. But they also specialize in keeping their family safe, and running surveillance on their home each and every night. And though they’re both black cats, they couldn’t be more different. Bogey is slim and sleek, and he generally takes things in stride. Buckley, on the other hand, is a gigantic Maine Coon cat with an anxiety disorder. And because he’s still a Rookie when it comes to the whole cat detective business, well, that just makes him even more nervous than before. Plus, it seems his body is always growing and he can never really get used to his size. Saluting with gigantic paws can be especially difficult. And it doesn’t help that he seems to make mistake after mistake . . .
Even so, Buckley's got a heart as big as the rest of him and he refuses to give up on his dream of being a great cat detective. Thankfully, Bogey doesn’t seem fazed by Buckley’s growing pains (and body) and he keeps teaching Buckley how to do the job right. Then, when the boys open their own detective agency and advertise it on the Internet, well, that’s when things really get interesting . . .
Buckley is the narrator of the books, though he usually tells his Mom, author Cindy Vincent, what to type. That's because it's a little tough for Buckley to type on a computer keyboard with such huge paws. Here's the fourth book in the series, The Case of the Clever Secret Code. As Buckley puts it, it's their most difficult case ever!
The Case of the Clever Secret Code begins when famous movie star, Steele Bronson, arrives unexpectedly in St. Gertrude and makes a beeline for the antique store run by Buckley and Bogey’s Mom. Of course, the whole town goes into a tizzy, especially when Steele Bronson announces his plans to shoot his next movie at the St. Gertrude Library, housed in a historic four-story mansion. It all happens just as Gracie, the boys' human sister, is a finalist in the town's Fourth of July essay contest. Holy Catnip! But it isn't long before Buckley and Bogey realize there is something very wrong with the whole picture . . . including the one that Steele Bronson is filming . . .
Here's the third book in the series, The Case of the Jewel Covered Cat Statues. As Buckley puts it, it's their most complicated case ever!
The Case of the Jewel Covered Cat Statues is sort of a take on the Maltese Falcon, done Buckley and Bogey style. Complete with a mysterious package left in their Mom's antique store, as well as jeweled statues and lots of shady characters, this is the boys most complicated case EVER. Whew . . . it certainly keeps Buckley and Bogey on their paws! Especially when the whole thing turns into a treasure hunt that teaches them a lot about the history of their town, St. Gertrude. But one thing's for sure, as complicated as this case is, it sure pays to have friends who can help out. Holy Catnip!
